It has done very well to impress guests since opening its doors in 2018. Selina La Fortuna is without doubt the best hostel in this area of Costa Rica. The rooms are one thing, but the swimming pool and social area are something else.
With great value hostels and cheap hotels, everything you want to see and do is just a step away. Montezuma is a fun little town with many artisan vendors, cool shops and amazing restaurants! We didn't have a bad meal the entire time we were there. The beaches are beautiful and offer shade and nature and there are opportunities to take guided tours on ATV, horseback, by foot or boat. You can even take a water taxi to Jaco for an overnight. A great town, I highly recommend staying for at least 2 nights. When guests stay at the property, they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff is, and more.

The situation triggered my sketchy-sensors and I explained that I wanted to ask at another place. He said that if I leave he would not open the door again. Despite the small kitchen, this place is fabulous. Apparently this hotel was one of the very first hotels in Montezuma. The owner was an artist, and there is incredible artwork hanging all throughout the building. The onsite staff are wonderful, and you can book all your tours, and shuttles through them for cheap.
The mixed dorms and private rooms are basic, but you won’t want to spend much time indoors anyway. It’s paradise for travellers looking to relax, with the option of joining many cool activities. This gorgeous little hostel really stands out thanks to the staff and little extras such as free coffee to kick start your day. The social atmosphere comes together with a weekly open-mic night and nearby bars and restaurants. Once again Las Mariposas is 50m from the beach and boasts a great outside chilling area with hammocks and charming ambience. The rooms are of high quality, with ready-made beds to welcome you. Also find hammocks dotted around and outside seating areas outside the rooms.
If you prefer to cook for yourself, most Montezuma hostels have guest kitchens and free Wi-Fi for that all-important recipe inspiration too. Some have cafés or common rooms so you can mingle with fellow travellers. One child under 18 years stays free of charge when using existing beds. One older child or adult is charged USD 8 per night in an extra bed. The maximum number of total guests in a room is 4.

The private rooms are particularly enticing and great for couples looking to enjoy each others company in a peaceful setting. It certainly has a home-from-home feel, with a fully fitted kitchen including an oven.
